ABOUT ME
I am a Senior Researcher and Acting Deputy Director at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
My research focuses on the causes and consequences of mass mobilization. I investigate when and why people mobilize to demand political change and what determines the success or failure of these efforts. A particular focus of my work is the interaction between social movements, political elites, and security forces, and how these dynamics influence political outcomes. I also study how violent conflict shapes the attitudes of ordinary people and why some post-conflict peace processes relapse into war while others result in lasting peace.
My work sits at the intersection of comparative politics, social movement research, and conflict studies. I have contributed to the development of several global datasets on mass mobilization and security force disloyalty and have been involved in survey research projects in Colombia and Ukraine.
